Support

With a staff to student ratio of 3:1, each student has the opportunity for individualized attention and support. This includes staff who are available for individual counseling on an as-needed basis. Alternatives are discussed and offered to those who may be experiencing difficulty throughout the school day. Such services include life space interviews, crisis intervention, functional behavioral assessments, and individualized student charting.

Valley Day School utilizes a school-wide behavior support system. It is a system designed to encourage students to demonstrate appropriate behavior, complete academic assignments, and take responsibility for their own behavior. The system includes multiple reinforcement steps with corresponding privileges and responsibilities. Behavioral rewards range from immediate reinforcements on a daily basis to rewards given on a weekly and monthly basis. Such incentives include participation in clubs, field trips and socialization opportunities.
