  • ENROLLMENT PROCESS

The Valley Day School is an Approved Private School (APS) that serves public and charter school students in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Students are referred to us through a public school district or charter school, via the special education process, classified as Emotionally Disturbed or Autistic.

We admit students on a rolling basis throughout the school year and the summer months as space(s) become available.

    Enrollment Process:

Step 1:  The district or charter school will enter the referral here:  https://enrollment.powerschool.com/family/gosnap.aspx?action=200000855&culture=en

Step 2:  VDS reviews received referrals to determine whether our licensure and policies allow us to consider the candidate for admission/enrolment, if our program can implement the student’s current IEP, and if it appears from the file review that we can safely provide the student with the identified additional programming and/or related services that are being sought by the referring IEP team. Occasionally, our intake team may request additional information or clarification from parents, the referring school, therapist, and/or agency staff who have worked with the candidate.

Step 3:  Based on the initial screening, if we believe the student to be a viable candidate for VDS enrollment, we will contact the parent/guardian to schedule a student interview/evaluation and tour.

Step 4:  Based on the results of the interview/evaluation, tour, and other available information, VDS will make a final determination as to whether we will offer to enroll the candidate.

Step 5:  If the decision is to offer to enroll the candidate, VDS Admissions Office notifies the referring school in writing of the decision. VDS supplies the school with a detailed written description of tuition costs, invoicing, deadlines, and other terms and conditions governing Valley Day School’s written offer to enroll the referred candidate.
